In the rules it states that in a 5 player game one person (on the smaller team) is given the 2x bonus.

does this mean

a.) That one person gets double the score once the tricks are added up?
or
b.) That one person doubles the number of tricks they personally get, then the team gets the total?

Just some clarification would be cool

I can see how this is confusing!
Only the player with the 2x card gets their score doubled.

Example:
Team A has three players. No one gets the 2x card.
Team B has two players. The First Player gives the card to Player Z.
The rules are set up so that each trick is worth 2 points.

At the end of the game Team A has 5 tricks and Team B has 10 tricks.
All players on Team A get (5 x 2) 10 points.
On Team B, Player Y gets (10 x 2) 20 points, while Player Z with the 2x card gets (10 x 2)(2) 40 points.
